10 Seconds to Go!

10 Seconds to Go!

I almost can’t believe that I blew off partying to wait around until midnight EST just to get my facebook URL. At least I did go out and get some delicious sushi/drinks before.

I logged onto the facebook page about 11, and watched the countdown off and on, mixed with combing through my friend’s twitter posts about the subject. Once the clock hit 0, I raced to the next page, hoping that “emily” was not taken.

It was.

So I went with emily.elliott. Once I was done, I felt like I had just been so caught up with the excitement of having to get the personalized URL, that I didn’t really take the time to choose what I wanted. I feel like I could have easily went with emilyelliott, or eelliott. Oh well. No changing now.

I was impressed with how Facebook’s servers seemed to handle the rush in the first few minutes. No crashes, the page loaded in a split second, and the entire process was so easy to use. Now I can easily remember my Facebook link too!

It’s funny how some people took this as a joke (case in point, my friend who chose “you got pawned” as theirs), and how some people really tried to get their own names. Hope you all got what you wanted!
