Star Trek: The Movie

Posted by emielli on Tuesday, November 18, 2008

I’ve never been a Trekkie. That job was reserved for my slightly older cousin who, when he was growing up, collected ALL the books, watched every episode and even gathered all the actions figures. However, with a cast including Simon Pegg & John Cho, the Star Trek movie to be released in 2009 looks pretty cool.

But how will the “Trekkies” feel about this adaption of their favorite series? That remains to be the question. Will the loyal fans spurn this version, or will they accept it as a legit part of the franchise?

Check out the trailer and give me your opinion!

Role Models – Sneak Preview

Posted by emielli on Tuesday, October 14, 2008

Every now and then, I`m granted with a sneak preview movie pass for 2. If I`m not busy, I`ll go. Last night, I had a movie pass for the upcoming movie Role Models, starring Paul Rudd and Seann William Scott, which is released in theaters November 7. My boyfriend was thrilled to be able to see this movie so early.

I liked the movie. That is to say, it’s one of those movies I can watch just once and not feel the need to really watch again. I laughed almost the entire time – the whole audience did. However, it is without a doubt a film of crude humor. Sex jokes, the little kid who is always cursing or talking about ‘boobies,’ it gets to be a little much, but what can you really expect from a movie like this?

Would I have paid $9 to go see it? Probably. Would I have wanted my money back at the end? Not one bit. The movie didn’t require much thinking, and I liked it that way. Plus, it ended on a really positive, feel good note.
